I met a lady at a Texaco station a few weeks back, she was blabbering on about how great Trump is doing. I laughed uncontrollably and she got super pissed, going on about how ignorant we are this side of the mountain range . Evidently the folks in Wenatchee are stable genius’. It’s really weird, it’s like another fucking world over the Cascades . Makes less sense than Oregon, and that’s hard to beat.

My wife and I just qualified for New Zealand citizenship. Not saying we're going over there, but the option is nice to have. Planning a trip in two years to check it out.

Yup - was looking forward to a one month paid “sabbatical” I get at work end of this year to go spend time with my parents (who live in Sri Lanka) next year. Fat chance of that happening at this rate. Sucks too because we have a toddler who turns 2 next week, so won’t have any family around for that, and my parents have even met her only once (when they were able to visit for her 1 y/o birthday last year).

Here’s to hoping they get to see her again before she’s a teenager (and while they’re still alive). Of course grand scheme of things we’re very fortunate, but yeah on the topic of travel - most people who need to do so for family reasons are pretty much screwed for the foreseeable future.

Nah, I couldn’t do it. For better or worse this is home. I’ve lived other places but they never really felt right. Plus, traffic, people, over-priced housing and (seemingly) never-ending gloom are not on my list of favorite things.

Damn, as I look at the map, the number of messed up backward spots in this state gets so long that I couldn’t practically list them all. So many east of the C ascades, but surprisingly many west as well.

Inside the city limits of Spokane or Yakima it can be fairly purple at least, but get 10 feet outside the city and the local internet start page is Breitbart or Stormfront .
